UK Prison Guard Sentenced for Viral Sex Tape With Inmate

30-year-old Linda De Sousa Abreu was arrested in June after footage revealed she engaged in repeated sexual encounters with an inmate.

Linda De Sousa Abreu, a former British prison guard, was sentenced to 15 months in jail for having sex with an inmate.

During her sentencing on Monday, the 30-year-old pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office after being caught having sex with the inmate in June at HMP Wandsworth, the BBC reports.

“The recording lasts some four-and-a-half minutes,” said Judge Martin Edmunds KC to Abreu, per the Telegraph. “You participated with evident enthusiasm. The second prisoner recorded events and provided a commentary by way of encouragement, including saying: ‘Guys we made history,’ ‘This is how we live at Wandsworth bruv,’ and ‘You know you are a gangsta.’”

“One was performing oral sex on the same prisoner on a separate occasion on the same day, an event partly recorded, by accident, on your prison issued body worn camera,” the judge said of the videos. “The other was a previous occasion of sexual intercourse with the same prisoner.”

“They show that this offense was not isolated. It was part of repeated behavior. It is not clear when the earliest offense occurred so I shall assume the repetition was within a few days,” he added.

Further into the sentencing, Judge Edmunds said Abreu’s actions put “fellow officers at increased risk.”

“It has taken many years for female staff to be respected and treated professionally in a male-dominated environment,” said Andrew Davy, the governor of HMP Wandsworth, in a statement read to the court. “The action of this defendant has undone years of positive and rewarding prisoner interactions in less than a day.”

Abreu’s representative, Rajiv Menon KC, told the court she accepted “full responsibility” for her actions. He also requested a reduced sentence citing his client’s “severe personality disorder” and ADHD that made Abreu a “highly impulsive and reckless person who tends to act without considering the consequences.”

After the videos went viral, Abreu was arrested on June 28 at Heathrow Airport while attempting to flee to Madrid.
