Colombian police have arrested an infamous 23-year-old hitwoman known as 'The Doll' who has been connected to several murders in the country.

Per CBS News, the Magdalena Medio region's police department shared a video showing the woman, 23-year-old Karen Juliet Ojeda Rodríguez, in custody after she was arrested while in possession of a 9mm handgun. She was detained alongside another suspect, who was identified by his alias "Leopoldo." It is unclear what charges she and her accomplice will face.

As detailed by local outlet Diario del Norte, the woman is allegedly the second in command of the criminal gang "Los de la M," which has routinely engaged with other gangs in an effort to monopolize drug trafficking within the region of Santander. She reportedly first got involved with criminal gang activity when she was 18. In the lead-up to her arrest, she was believed to be in charge of assassinations and allegedly killed her ex-boyfriend.

The murder of her boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus, was reportedly an ambush assassination that went down after she invited him to meet up and resolve an issue regarding money. Two men on a motorcycle drove by and shot him when he arrived at the scene.

Police are investigating whether the weapon found on 'The Doll' and her accomplice was used in recent murders in the region. "With the capture of alias La Muneca and alias Leopoldo, a period of calm has been created in the region," said Lt. Col. Muaricio Herrara. "These arrests mark progress in the dismantling of criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides."
