Roughly a month after she was reported missing, Hannah Kobayashi's family confirmed that she's been "found safe."

As reported by People, Hannah's sister and mother confirmed that she's been found after her curious case made headlines across the country. "We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Hannah has been found safe," the statement credited to her sister Syndi Kobayashi and mother Brandi Yee reads. "This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family, and we kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through."

Hannah Kobayashi, 30, was reported missing on Nov. 11 after she did not board her connecting flight bound for New York City from Los Angeles. The Hawaii-based photographer made headlines after her family expressed public concern that she had been kidnapped or had been a victim of human trafficking. During the search, her father Ryan Kobayashi died by suicide on Nov. 24 in Los Angeles.

On Dec. 1, authorities changed the case to a "voluntary missing person" case after security camera footage showed her walking across the border into Mexico with a backpack and a suitcase. Authorities determined that the footage showed that she wasn't in distress, although her family's attorney Sara Azari argued that her clients "don't believe that there's anything voluntary about this."

Lt. Doug Oldfield of the LAPD's missing persons unit said that Azari told authorities that Hannah was located on Wednesday, Dec. 11. "We have not seen her and at this point we have no reason to compel her to see us," he added. "It’s a big news story so she may decide to come with a lawyer, but she is not obligated to speak to us. We’ll see what happens next."

Her family has yet to share where Hannah was found and when she made contact with them.
