Man Who Allegedly Threw Sub at Cops Gets Charged With Felony: 'I Did It, I Threw a Sandwich'
A viral video shows the incident in Washington, D.C.
A man who was seen on video throwing a sub sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent in Washington, D.C., has been hit with a charge for felony assault of a federal officer.
As reported by NBC News, a viral video shows Sean Charles Dunn yelling at a group of CBP agents amid increased police and military presence in the Capitol.
"Fuck you, you fucking fascists," he shouted at the officers on Sunday (Aug. 10). "Why are you here? I don't want you in my city."
He then threw the sub sandwich at an officer and fled the scene before he was arrested.
Dunn was hit with the felony charge on Wednesday (Aug. 13). When he was processed by the Metropolitan Police Department, he reportedly told an officer, "I did it, I threw a sandwich."
Jeanine Pirro, U.S. attorney for D.C., shared a video statement after the video went viral.
“He thought it was funny. Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today, because we charged him with a felony: assault on a police officer," Pirro said. "And we’re going to back the police to the hilt. So there, stick your Subway sandwich somewhere else."
According to Attorney General Pamela Bondi, the man worked for the Justice Department but has since been let go.
"I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony," Bondi wrote before claiming that Dunn is an example of "the Deep State" that Republicans have "been up against" since Trump took office at the start of the year.
"You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement," she added.
The Trump administration recently increased the presence of law enforcement in D.C. in an apparent effort to crack down on crime despite the Justice Department reporting that last year, crime in the city was the lowest it's been in 30 years.
