Luigi Mangione Receives Almost $300,000 in Crowdfunded Contributions to Pay Legal Team

Luigi Mangione’s supporters are rooting for him.

Rolling Stone reports that the 26-year-old has accepted over $290,000 in crowdfunded donations to help pay his legal expenses, from more than 10,000 of his patrons.

“Luigi is aware of the fund and very much appreciates the outpouring of support,” Mangione’s attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo said in a statement. “My client plans on utilizing it to fight all three of the unprecedented cases against him.”

The crowdfund was spearheaded by the December 4 Legal Committee, which, as of this writing, has now raised over $330,000 for Mangione. According to the outlet, the committee is comprised of a team of 15 volunteers.

On Dec. 9, 2024, Luigi was arrested for the alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. He subsequently pleaded not guilty to state murder and terror charges and is also facing two federal second-degree murder charges and several weapons charges. If he’s found guilty, he could be imprisoned for life without parole. He’s currently incarcerated at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center with his trial slated to begin later this month.
