Polaroid Unveils the Flip, Its Most Advanced Instant Camera Yet

Few names are more synonymous with innovation in photography than Polaroid. For over 50 years, the brand has defined and redefined the instant camera. Now, it’s shaking things up again with its latest release: the Polaroid Flip Instant Camera.

Merging the best of point-and-shoot simplicity with the nostalgic charm of analog film, the Flip is Polaroid’s most user-friendly instant camera to date. It’s designed for a beautifully tactile photo experience while integrating smart, modern tech.

With its signature red shutter button and sleek, functional build, the Flip is packed with standout features. At the heart of it is the Hyperfocal 4-Lens System, which automatically selects the ideal lens based on subject distance—delivering crisp, focused shots every time.

That system is enhanced by Sonar AutoFocus, a modern upgrade to classic Polaroid tech that uses sound waves to determine distance and ensure sharp focus, even in low-light conditions.

The Flip also introduces Polaroid’s most powerful flash yet that adjusts brightness based on proximity, illuminating scenes up to 4.5 meters away. A Scene Analysis feature helps users get the perfect exposure, with real-time feedback shown through the viewfinder LED or an external ‘lid’ display.

Bluetooth connectivity brings even more to the table. Paired with the Polaroid App, users can unlock tools like double exposure, manual controls, and a self-timer, expanding creative possibilities far beyond point-and-shoot.

To mark the launch, Polaroid is hosting an immersive pop-up at WALKENS House of Film in Fitzroy, Melbourne, starting Tuesday May 27. The space will feature hands-on demos, interactive photo moments, and a first look at the Flip in action.
