President Obama: 'Jay Z's Still the King,' But Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper 'Are Doing Amazing Work'
President Obama talked about some of his favorite rappers, calling Jay Z "the King," while also praising Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar.
It's likely that we're not going to see another president as passionate about hip-hop as Barack Obama has been over these last eight years. Whether it's been dancing to Drake's "Hotline Bling," calling Kanye West a "jackass" after the infamous Taylor Swift VMA interruption in 2010, or his friendship with Chicago's own Chance the Rapper, no Commander-in-Chief has been so in-tune with the rap world at large.
Recently, Obama called into Sway in the Morning and offered up his picks for the best MCs in the game.
Thus far, the question has yet to be posed to either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, but the latter seems to have a real affinity for that Death Row and West Coast stuff from the '90s.
