Shooter in Baton Rouge Kills 3 Police Officers, Wounds Several Others (UPDATE)
Seven officers have been shot and three killed. The suspect, who was shot and killed, is identified as Gavin Eugene Long.
UPDATED, 6:23 p.m. ET: The gunman who was shot and killed in Baton Rouge is identified as Gavin Eugene Long by law enforcement. He was 29 years old and from Kansas City, Mo., according to ABC News. Police sources tell CNN that July 17 was his 29th birthday.
The names of the officers killed in the Baton Rouge shooting have been released to the public. They are as follows:

At least seven officers have reportedly been shot and three killed by an active shooter in Baton Rouge, La. The "heavily armed" gunman is still at large, and police are urging people to stay inside, BuzzFeed reports.
According to CNN's source, police received a call of a "suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rife." The man opened fire when police arrived. "There is still an active scene. They are investigating. Right now we are trying to get our arms around everything," Kip Holden, the mayor of Baton Rouge, said. He added that the shooter is believed to be down.
