California Politician's Dab at U.S. Senate Debate Sent Twitter in a Frenzy
U.S. Senate candidate Loretta Sanchez dabbed at the end of her debate in California.
If the dab wasn't already dead—after all, even Cam Newton gave it up this summer—it sure is now. In California, U.S. Senate candidate Loretta Sanchez ended her debate with the move, which is likely the first (and hopefully the last) dab in debate history.
Rep. Loretta Sanchez, a nine-term Democrat from California, was debating California Attorney General Kamala Harris, also a Democrat, for the U.S. Senate.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Sanchez exceeded her time for her closing statement, and the moderator interrupted her multiple times trying to wrap it up. Finally, Sanchez stopped. Then, for whatever reason, Sanchez hit the dab.
For as painful as it was to watch Sanchez' dab, the look on Harris' face, biting her lip and looking wide-eyed at the audience, made the whole thing worth it.
Letting the dab speak for itself, Harris laughed and said, "So, there's a clear difference between the candidates in this race."
According to The Huffington Post, Harris—who's been endorsed by President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and California Gov. Jerry Brown—has a 15 point lead over Sanchez.

So while Sanchez might not become a U.S. Senator, she can at least have a place in history for officially killing the dab.
