Which States Would Fare Best in Hypothetical Alien Invasion? New Study Aims to Find Out
If extraterrestrial life opts to carry out a full-fledged invasion, which state has a better chance of survival?
It’s been more than a quarter century since Tom DeLonge sang of a government cover-up on “Aliens Exist,” and eight years since the blink-182 co-founder’s company was instrumental in helping bring about UFO UAP disclosure’s mainstream breakthrough. Still, questions far outweigh answers when it comes to the topic, which was deemed a “potential national security threat” during a public hearing back in 2022.
A recent study—admittedly, one largely designed to drive people to the GIGACalculator site—sees the folks behind the mathematical modeling service attempting to (somewhat playfully) move the topic forward by determining which areas of the U.S. would fare best in the event of a full-fledged alien invasion. Per a report this week from AL.com, the study gives Virginia the No. 1 spot on its ranking of states based on odds of survival.
The state’s score of 8.06 out of a possible total of 10 is based on a number of influencing factors ranging from past alleged sightings to population density per square mile. Coming in at No. 2 is Alabama, with its own score landing just shy of Virginia’s at 7.91. Massachusetts, New York, and Minnesota make up the rest of the top five.
Below, see the top 10 states, per GIGACalculator, ranked by their odds of surviving an alien invasion. For the full list, which finds Nevada ranked at the very bottom, see here.
- Virginia
- Alabama
- Massachusetts
- New York
- Minnesota
- Florida
- Wisconsin
- North Carolina
- Alaska
- Georgia
As for DeLonge, he has not addressed this particular study. In a recent Instagram update, however, he did let fans know that his To the Stars company was deep into work on a variety of projects with potential partners including Netflix, Sony, Tubi, and Legendary Pictures.
