Kellyanne Conway Cites Imaginary Bowling Green Massacre to Defend Muslim Ban

Kellyanne Conway stopped by Chris Matthews' Hardball Thursday night to spew more bullshit. This is not surprising. One particular slice of bullshit, however, even shocked those of us who have quickly become jaded by the daily barrage of White House drivel: the supposed "Bowling Green Massacre."

While attempting to defend Trump's Muslim ban, Conway cited this so-called "massacre" as an example of the big scary media not doing their jobs. "I bet it's brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized, and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green Massacre," she said with a straight face. "I mean, most people don't know that because it didn't get covered."

But here's the thing about the Bowling Green Massacre: As the Daily Beastquickly reminded Conway and the nation after the Hardball interview aired, THAT SHIT NEVER HAPPENED. Conway appears to be referencing a non-massacre incident in 2011 involving two Iraqi nationals who were indicted for alleged ties to Improvised Explosive Device attacks against American troops in Iraq. Both men were discovered to be living in Bowling Green, Kentucky but there is "no information" on any massacre-like activities or violence of any kind in the area. Likewise, Conway's characterization of Obama’s response to the Bowling Green arrests (i.e. not a massacre) as a "ban" is misleading.

The Bowling Green Massacre—which, by the way, would make for an excellent name for a political punk trio—briefly united Twitter fingers the nation over in unabashed mockery of whatever the fuck Conway was going on about. Feast your eyes:
