Woman Dead After Walking Into Plane Propeller
The 37-year-old photographer was trying to take pictures of skydivers.
A woman recently passed away after walking backwards into the propeller of an airplane.
Vice reports that 37-year-old photographer Amanada Gallagher was taking photos of skydivers prior to the accident at the Air Capital Drop Zone skydiving center in Sedgwick County, Kansas. After exiting a plane she rode to the ground after the skydivers jumped, the incident happened.
“For unknown reasons… she moved in front of the wing, a violation of basic safety procedures,” said the company in a statement. “With her camera up to shoot photos as she did so, she stepped back slightly, moving toward and into the spinning propeller.”
Following the tragic incident, Gallagher was transported to the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was later pronounced dead.
In a GoFundMe account set up by her sister-in-law, Abbey Charboneau, an explanation of her death highlights the fact that she was doing what she wanted to do when it happened.
“On Oct. 26, Amanda passed away in a very sad accident, doing what she loved, skydiving and taking pictures!” wrote Charboneau.
