Big Sean Lets Listeners Know He's 'Got Better Things to Do Than Find Someone to Beef With' in New Freestyle
Sean Don rapped over Aaliyah’s "If Your Girl Only Knew"—and cautioned people not to create "so many narratives."
Big Sean wants to remind you he has no time to seek out rap beef.
The 36-year-old is the latest artist to stop by the On the Radar studios to record a freestyle.
Rapping over Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew” beat, Sean Don assessed the hip-hop climate and promised that "he's got better things to do than find someone to beef with."
The six-time Grammy nominee opens his freestyle, "I had to switch the home team 'cause they committed treason/Eliantte how the piece hit, I'm feeling seasick/N***as looking for engagement like they got they knee bent/I got better things to do than find someone to beef with/Or else I'm off the deep end/This game will take you either way, you know it's offense-defense."
When it came to the beat choice, he said he had to "pay tribute to one of my favorite singers ever."
Big Sean took to X shortly after his On the Radar video hit, writing in a pair of tweets, "So many people turned they back on me, so i appreciate the ones who stayed down. N fuck these b*tch ass n***az, every one of them 😤."
Between his posts and his "better things to do than find someone to beef with" bar, Sean was moved to give a clarification.
"Yall goin wit so many narratives, im talking to da haters who just keep finding something to point out they dont like bout me," he tweeted. "Its not even worth explaining tho im a just focus on the music."
DJ Hed also hit X to inform fans Sean told him the beef line isn't about Kendrick.
"Bar was directed at a different Gemini," Hed wrote.
Over on Instagram, Sean hilariously recreated LeBron's "can't believe this my life" moment:
In March, Sean dropped a freestyle on his Instagram account and made a reference to the “so-called bigger three” just as the rap war between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and—at the time—J. Cole was heating up.
"I think where I lack most as an artist is consistency," he rapped from his L.A. residence at the time. "I just haven't had the energy to compete with enemies, or y'all so-called bigger three."
Sean also went on Instagram Live on Monday night, where he played an unreleased Ye collab, got into detail about his long-awaited album, and opened up about taking care of himself while "having a hard fucking time" lately.
