Cardi B said she believes she would have landed in jail for murder if she had stayed in a relationship with Offset—and added that she’s “very happy” with Stefon Diggs.

During an X Spaces livestream on Tuesday (June 3), the rapper spoke about the turmoil surrounding her separation from Offset and the journey to healing that led her to her current relationship with Diggs.

In response to being called a “hoe” by her detractors online, Cardi explained that she was single last September through February and spent that time partying, learning about herself, and “crying a lot.”

“I don't think people understand how tired I was … I was mentally drained,” she said around the nine-minute mark in the video above. “Couldn't eat—I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind. I gave [him] chances after chances.

“If I was still there, I was gonna end up going to jail. Cause I was gonna end up killing him, seriously, with my own bare hands,” she admitted. “It was just getting too much.”

The “Enough (Miami)” rapper said it was more than Offset’s alleged cheating that left her feeling unwell, saying, “The constant lies, the gaslighting—it was really messing with my head.”

Elsewhere in the stream, Cardi revealed that her depression was so severe during her pregnancy that her daughter Blossom, who arrived last September, was born weighing only 5 pounds. She said her management and label eventually intervened and encouraged her to get therapy.

“I did therapy, and I tried, and I fell back in love again,” she said. “And I decided to have my baby and everything, and it's just like—when it's the end of something, it's literally the end of something. I don't know what people was wanting me to do. I don't know what these men wanted me to do.”

Cardi, who recently made her relationship with Diggs Instagram official, asserted that their romance developed gradually and was not a reaction to Offset moving on with another woman.

“I don’t think people realize that motherfuckers popped up with a new significant other before me,” she explained, referring to Offset being spotted with Atlanta-based model Melanie Jayda during a New Year’s performance in Dubai.

“Before I popped out, before I even gave any clue who I was talking to or anything, I built a friendship. I got to know the person, they got to know me,” Cardi said of Diggs. “There was times that I used to be depressed … and for some reason when I had those weird episodes, that’s when a motherfucker would hit me up or text me out of the blue, checking on me.

“We're still getting to know each other, but most importantly, I feel very young. I feel very refreshed,” she said elsewhere in the stream.

She concluded the stream with a message to her female listeners, saying, “I wanna let y’all women know this: You’re not alone … I know I make it look easy, I know I make it look fun, but it wasn’t. It took me a minute for me to be here, and I’m happy.”

Cardi continued, “I haven’t said I’m happy in a very long time. I am genuinely happy. Throughout the day, I’m smiling like a motherfucker because I’m happy. I feel at peace.”

She hinted that her upcoming album, the long-awaited sequel to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, will address much of the emotional journey.

“Let me share that because this is really my life that everybody having a fucking opinion on, so shut the fuck up," she said. "And, yeah, I'll talk more about it in my album.”

Cardi and Offset are in the midst of a heated divorce process. Most recently, the former couple were at odds after Offset reportedly requested spousal support.

In response, Cardi blasted her soon-to-be ex-husband during an explosive X Space rant in which she claimed to pay $50,000 per month in expenses for their children. She also alleged that Offset hasn't given her a hand financially and hasn't seen the children since March.
