Chrisean Rock Debuts New Gospel Single "Yahweh": 'You Can Still Be Gangsta and Follow God'

Chrisean Rock is making her gospel debut with a new single, “Yahweh.”

The rapper premiered the single during a performance at the Faith City Central Church in Brandywine, Maryland, on Sunday. Her infant son, Chrisean Jesus, whom she shares with rapper Blueface, joined her onstage for the performance.

The artist, born Chrisean Eugenia Malone, also sat down with Pastor Mike Freeman during the Sunday service and reflected on her spiritual transformation.

“You can still be gangsta and still follow God,” she said around the 17-minute mark in the video linked here. “‘Cause, you know, he’s very peaceful, but Jesus still flipped tables.” 

Further into the conversation, she shared, “I came from nothing, I’m trying to get there, and then the circumstances was the circumstances. People made an impact in my life, but I could have been the better influence to the person that impacted my life.

“I was on a show called Blue Girls Club, whatever. [Blueface] is the big artist and everything, whatever the case may be,” she said of her ex. “I could have dealt with that situation with God so much better for a better outcome. It’s all what you tune into, you turn into. I could’ve tuned out a lot of things, and still been myself.”

Chrisean faced legal troubles last summer that included a stint in jail. She was released in September, and said that since then, she has been focused on turning her life around.

She was reunited with her son in time for his first birthday and revealed on her social media that she subsequently leaned deeply into her faith.

Chrisean shared footage of her baptism to her Instagram in November, along with the caption, “Gracious God, today I rejoice in the promise of new life that baptism symbolizes. Thank You for cleansing my heart and welcoming me into Your family.”
