Remy Ma Responds to Fake Viral Video Claiming Claressa Shields Fought Her: ‘Stop With the Clickbait'
Remy is responding to an edited video that claims the pro-boxer fought her amid drama over ex Papoose.
Remy Ma wants gossip bloggers to “stop with the clickbait” after a fake video of Claressa Shields spread online.
A heated 2024 video featuring Shields, 30, was edited to include a caption that said she “put hands” on the 45-year-old rapper. The fake clip was shared online this week and went viral on Wednesday (Aug. 13), when it was shared by DJ Akademiks and other gossip accounts across social media.
“[Laughing emoji] imagine the f*ck that. Definitely NOT tawkin bout me… cuz umm yeah,” Remy wrote on X, replying under Akademiks TV’s post of the fake video. “
“Yall gotta STOP with the click bait. AK cmonnnnnnnmn,” she wrote in a separate tweet.
In the original, unedited video, the pro-boxer was actually talking about rival Alycia Baumgardner and speaking about a tense, ringside encounter they had at Las Vegas in April 2024.
“Come fight me, please,” Shields says at the six-minute mark as seen in the video linked above. “This will be a Flint [Michigan] versus Ohio [fight]. Y’all, she not from Detroit. I don’t care how many pairs of buffs she got—she ain’t from Detroit.”
Remy Ma, who is from the Bronx, New York, is never mentioned in the unedited, 29-minute video. Meanwhile, Baumgardner was born in Fremont, Ohio.
“You don't even know what smoke is, baby … I'm from Flint, baby. Quit playing with me. I ran up on that hoe,” Shields said further into the clip. ”She wanna talk about that shit, fight me. I wanted to see what it was like with that face-to-face conversation because that's what I'm about.”
She continued, “You wanna do all that tweeting, baby? I'm about this. You're right, we do just need to fight. We do. Yes, come to 54 so I can show you what's up.
“… I ain't even mean to put my hands on that girl. Lord, I have to catch myself, but she started putting her hand on my face … You're mad that you met that you met your match, and that's OK, cause I'm gonna give you what you want every time. Now what?”
Shields is dating Remy’s estranged husband, 47-year-old Papoose, and recently announced her intent to have a child with him in 2026.
"I don’t want to wait 'til I’m, you know, 40, 43, whatever, after my career, to have my kids," Shields said on The Pivot Podcast. "I want to be able to run at the park with my kids and stuff like that. I don't want to be too old.”
The couple went public with their relationship in December 2024, which left many questioning the timing of their relationship.
“[You make] it seem like I’m somebody that came in and disrupted a happy household when I didn’t,” she said elsewhere on the podcast. “That’s not what happened.”
She also denied speculation of supposed beef with Remy Ma, calling the idea of fighting over a man “a stupid narrative.”
“I just left New Jersey. When I was at the fights in New York, I was with him. We always together,” Shields said on the podcast. “We're always connected. So it's not like we're fighting over a man or anything like that. Like, that's a stupid narrative. I'm a grown ass woman and I'm a good-looking woman who's successful. I don't got to fight over no man.”
