The Weeknd’s year is off to a pretty impressive start.

Thanks to the success of his critically acclaimed LP Dawn FM, which is projected to top the Billboard 200 this week with 157,000 equivalent album units, The Weeknd has earned 705 million streams on the platform in 2022 alone, per Spotify Daily Data.

The streaming success shared by HipHopDX is really no surprise, as The Weeknd is the only artist on the above list of 10 acts who has released a full-length effort in the last two weeks. But it does show the hold that Dawn FM is already having on its listeners as they await the final results in his race to No. 1 against Gunna’s DS4EVER.

As the Toronto singer shared with his fans, though, sales don’t matter to him as much as you’d think.

“This doesn’t matter to me,” The Weeknd wrote in a recent quote-tweet. “What matters is getting to experience the album together with the fans during these times.”
