50 Cent has chimed in on the indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams and has used it as an opportunity to revisit the time he gave Diddy the key to the city.

In a post on Instagram, Fif reacted to the news that Eric Adams has been indicted as part of an ongoing federal investigation into foreign influence and campaign fundraising violation. "😳this shit is getting crazy out here!" wrote the rapper alongside a clip of the key to the city ceremony in September 2023. "Do you want a docu series on Eric Adams ? 🤷 I want to know what the [fuck] is going on here."

During the event, which took place in Times Square, Adams praised the disgraced Bad Boy Records founder. "Sean Combs is the embodiment of the New York City attitude," he said. "A son of Harlem, Combs worked his way to the top, becoming a successful musical talent both in front of and behind the mic. Despite all of his successes, Sean has never forgotten where he came from—giving back to New York City."

Just two months later, his ex-girlfriend Cassie filed a lawsuit in which he accused him of rape and years of abuse. The lawsuit was settled the following day. When footage that surfaced online showed Diddy physically assaulting Cassie, Adams requested that he return the key, which he did.

50 Cent asked his followers if they wanted a docuseries about the indictment against Adams, which came after he confirmed that he would be producing a Netflix documentary about the allegations against Diddy.

“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far," said 50 Cent and documentary director Alexandria Stapleton in a joint statement. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives."

For his part, Adams has released a video addressing the indictment, which remains sealed. "My fellow New Yorkers, it is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with crimes," he said. "If so, these charges will be entirely false, based on lies. But, they would not be surprising."

The mayor has been accused of being involved with an alleged scheme with the Turkish government, in which he was said to have received illegal donations to help get the Fire Department to approve the building of a new Turkish consulate.
