Desiigner Suggests His Vegan Diet and Medication Caused Him to Publicly Masturbate on Plane

Desiigner has suggested that his vegan diet is partly to blame for his indecent exposure incident onboard a flight to Japan last year.

In an interview with Adam22–who has sexual misconduct allegations of his own–the Brooklyn-born artist said that he was "fully tweaked out" during the trip and wasn't aware of his behavior on the flight. "I didn’t know what I was doing," he said. "I was fully tweaked out of my mind. This was when I was vegan, I didn’t have enough sugars and stuff like that... I was kind of, like, out of my body."

The 27-year-old rapper was charged with indecent exposure over the incident, which he later pleaded guilty to. He was ordered to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years of probation and 120 hours of community service.

"It really wasn't who my character was," he continued. "I was on medication and just went to sleep on the plane." When he landed, he said he was greeted by the FBI and was asked why he exposed and allegedly pleasured himself on the flight. "I had to get back home and get myself back together," he added. When the news was circulating, he said he was concerned that people would see him as "a pervert."

In a statement shared shortly after the incident, the rapper said that he had been "struggling" with his mental health for months and planned to seek treatment.

“For the past few months I have not been OK, and I have been struggling to come to terms with what is going on,” he wrote in an Instagram Stories post. “While overseas for a concert I performed at, I had to be admitted in to a hospital, I was not thinking clearly. They gave me meds, and I had to hop on a plane home. I am ashamed of my actions that happened on that plane. I landed back to the states, and am admitting my self in a facility to help me. I will be cancelling all of my shows and any obligations until further notice. Mental health is real guys, please pray for me. If your not feeling like yourself please get help.”

Because he was traveling to Tokyo, Japan, from Minneapolis, he was charged with indecent exposure in the state of Minnesota. He was facing up to 90 days behind bars but ultimately avoided jail time after taking a plea deal.
