Fetty Wap’s first new solo song in over two years is named after his inmate number amid his six-year prison sentence on federal drug charges — and the video for the track highlights an effort to bring him home. The rapper has been behind bars since October 2021 following his guilty plea, and the song features samples of news reports on his arrest and conviction.

Titled "Forever (71943509)," the song is accompanied by a music video featuring archival footage of the rapper in the studio and performing live.

"Look deep into my soul and feel this pain," he croons in the track.

That number, 71943-509, is Fetty's Bureau of Prisons register number. The rapper is currently being held in FCI Sandstone, a low-security federal facility in Sandstone, Minnesota. His scheduled release date is March 9, 2027.

The video ends with a call to have Fetty Wap released from prison, with the description of the YouTube video including a link to a petition that aims to get him a presidential pardon or commutation.

"Unfortunately, there have been many misunderstandings surrounding his current legal situation," reads the petition. "Contrary to widespread and often exaggerated headlines, Fetty Wap was not charged with trafficking multiple substances or leading a drug operation. He pleaded guilty to a single count: conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. That is the only charge for which he currently serves a federal sentence."

Last month, his sister called for the rapper's prison sentence to be commuted so he could return home to his family. "He is scheduled to be released in 2027, but justice should also mean mercy," she wrote in a post on his Instagram account. "His sentence should be commuted so he can come home to his family, his children, and his purpose. It’s time."
