Drake, Alchemist, and others have paid tribute to the late Toronto battle rapper and artist Bishop Brigante following his death after a battle with colorectal cancer.

His son confirmed the news of Bishop Brigante's passing at age 46 in a post shared on Instagram on Sunday, March 30. "My father was many things, but at most he was a fighter," wrote his son. "He overcame so many obstacles in his lifetime and not once said something was 'impossible.' I’ve spent the last 19 years learning from such an incredible man. An incredible man I’m so proud to call my father. Not only did he fight for himself, but he fought just as hard to make sure others wouldn’t go through the same trials."

He added that he promised his father he would keep his legacy alive. "I am so grateful my father passed at peace while being surrounded by nothing but love and care," he wrote. "Thank you to everyone who contributed to helping my father during these trying times, your gestures have not gone unnoticed."

In the comments on the post, several artists paid tribute to the local Toronto legend. Drake offered his condolences with the "😢🪽" emojis, while Royce Da 5'9 also paid tribute.

Producer Alchemist added, "'Take that mirror down... NOW!' RIP Bishop Brigante. Huge loss smh."

Bishop Brigante was best known for his involvement in Toronto's battle rap scene. He was vice president of the rap battle league King of the Dot Entertainment, which was founded by Travis "Organik" Fleetwood in 2008. Method Man, Raekwon, and Drake were among the artists who attended and participated in the league. He was also an actor and a recording artist.

In a tribute shared on Instagram, Organik described the late rapper as his "older brother."
