Snoop Dogg Says He's Working on a Biopic With Ryan Coogler and Lee Daniels
Yes, please.
Snoop Dogg wants to take his life story to the screen.
The legendary West Coast rapper announced the news Wednesday during an appearance on D.C.'s Majic 102.3. Speaking to hist Vic Jagger, Snoop explained he wants the film to have a multi-part structure, similar to Netflix's original series Narcos.
"You see how like Narcos went from Escobar to the Cali cartel, now it's about to go to Mexico," Snoop said. "I'm thinking like a Snoop Dogg biopic: late '60s with my mother and father; pops in Vietnam; '70s, when I was born in '71, in the hippie era growing up; '80s, football, selling candy—uh oh!—cocaine, selling drugs, gang-banging; '90s—uh!—rap [...] You see what I'm sayin'? To me, that's more enticing than a two-hour Snoop Dogg movie."
It already sounds like a must-see.
Since starting his career nearly three decades ago, the 47-year-old rapper has left an indelible mark on hip-hop history. He's given the world classic records like "Gin and Juice," "Still a G Thang," "Drop It Like It's Hot," and "Sensual Seduction"; however, Snoop's success isn't confined to hit singles. He's also made serious coin in TV, clothing, mobile apps, restaurants, and, of course, cannabis.
A movie that chronicles Snoop's journey from Long Beach gangster to full-fledged businessman pretty much sells itself; but our interest hit a whole new level when Snoop revealed two potential collaborators.
"I already got with somebody. I don't even want to expose the names like that but I got some big wigs connected to it, some wigs. It's like some wiggathons," he said. "[...] So you want me to tell you their names? ... In conjunction with Lee Daniels and Ryan Coogler."
We have a feeling this is going to be good. Stay tuned as more details about the biopic are revealed.
