Stream Marvel's 'Black Panther: Wakanda Remixed' EP f/ WondaGurl and DJ Dahi
The five-track EP includes contributions by Baaba Maal, DJ Dahi, WondaGurl, Ame Kora, and Ludwig Göransson, who composed the original score.
Though there’s plenty to love about Marvel’s Black Panther, one of its strongest and most accomplished components was, without a doubt, its music. So should come as no surprise that Marvel Music and Hollywood Records continue to celebrate the film’s soundtrack and score with a batch of remixed records.
Thursday saw the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Remixed, a five-track EP that features contributions from DJ Dahi, WondaGurl, Baaba Maal, Michael Uzowuru, and Jeff Kleinman. Panther composer Ludwig Göransson produced and reworked two of the cuts: “Waterfalls” and “Black Panther.”
During a February interview with Pitchfork, Göransson spoke about creating the score and how his travels to Africa to helped shape the sound. “I knew the only way I could do this was to go to Africa and do research,” he said. “I took a month off and traveled to Senegal. I got connected with this artist, Baaba Maal, and traveled around with him while he was on tour. After, I was able to get into a studio and just record amazing musicians for week.”
Definitely check this one out if you’re a fan of the Black Panther: The Album (featuring Kendrick Lamar, SZA, the Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, and more) and/or Göransson's score, or simply looking to add chill tunes to your music rotation. You can also catch a visual below:
