Diddy Halted a 'Freak-Off' to Find and Confront Suge Knight in L.A., Cassie Claimed in Court
Cassie took the stand on Tuesday, where she recounted the alleged violence she endured during her relationship with Diddy.
Cassie briefly testified about Diddy and Suge Knight’s longtime beef, claiming Diddy stopped a “freak-off” to confront Knight in Los Angeles.
“We were having a freak-off in one of [Diddy’s] homes in LA and he said Suge was at Mel’s Diner, and we packed up and drove down there,” Cassie claimed on the stand on Tuesday during Diddy’s federal sex trafficking trial, according to NBC. “I was screaming and crying, ‘Please don’t do anything stupid.’ I didn’t know what they were going to do.”
“It’s like I wasn’t even there,” Cassie added, per Associated Press.
Her statement was corroborated by courtroom reporter Matthew Russell Lee, known on social media as Inner City Press.
When Diddy returned, he didn’t tell Cassie what happened, and it was unclear if the Bad Boy Records founder had encountered Knight.
The music executives’ feud dates back to the 1990s, when their respective labels were at the center of the East Coast vs. West Coast rap rivalry. Their beef ultimately came to a head with the deaths of Knights’ Death Row Records artist, 2Pac in 1996, and Diddy’s Bad Boy artist, The Notorious B.I.G. in 1997.
Last March, Suge—who is currently serving a 28-year bid—issued a warning to Diddy following the raids on his Miami and LA homes.
"It's a bad day for hip-hop...for the culture...Black people, because if one looks bad, we all look bad," Knight said on his Collect Call with Suge Knight podcast. "That's definitely not nothing to cheer about."
Knight continued, "But I'll tell you what, Puffy: your life is in danger." Suge claimed Diddy knows "the secrets" and because of that, "they gonna get you if they can."
Diddy is on trial for racketeering and sex trafficking charges. He faces life in prison if convicted.
