Common was tasked with naming his top five Chicago emcees during a recent visit to WGCI 107.5's Chicago Morning Show

When asked who he would incude on hs “Mount Rushmore of Chicago rappers," Common led with the obvious choice.

Kanye [West] is going on there,” he said. “I’ma put Lupe Fiasco on there," he added.

Common also named Twista and Lil Durk, saying the latter is “doing what he should do.”

He continued, “I’m excluding myself because I would be up there,” prompting everyone to laugh. “I might have to go with Chance [the Rapper] at that point," he concluded.

When one of the hosts pushed back and said, “You got Durk on there, but you wouldn’t put the person that made it able for Durk to live? Sosa—Chief Keef.” The host added, “He started the movement.”

“Yeah, he did start it,” Common responded. “But I gotta say, Durk been [taking it there].”

Pete Rock—who was also there—finished Common’s thought: “Sometimes you can start a movement and someone else could just take it higher.”
