Xzibit Calls for '90s N***az to Unite' After Discovering Olde English 800 Was Discontinued
Malt liquor was a staple in hip-hop in the 80s and 90s.
Xzibit is campaigning for the return of the Olde English 800 40 ounce in a glass bottle.
The former Pimp My Ride host took to Instagram on Wednesday to make his plea to his fellow malt liquor lovers, writing, “90’s n***az unite!! We under attack! I just found out they’re discontinuing Old English 800!!!”
In his video, Xzibit shared that he found himself “perplexed” when he went to the store to buy a 40-ounce bottle for his friend’s birthday.
“I haven’t bought a 40 in a long time. So, looking for an Olde English 800. Can’t find one. Then, I see they got a Miller High Life, so I get that, right?” he said. “So, I get to the house, I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m gonna find an Olde English 800 in a bottle.’ And then, come to find out that Miller Brewing Company is the manufacturer for Olde English 800 and they started putting it in a plastic bottle. That’s the last time I saw it, which was a huge step down from where used to have them in glass bottles, right?”
He continued, “I find out these people are discontinuing the Olde English 800 and focusing on making premium brands on their beer. Like, yo, you built that company off a lot of rap music and Olde English 800 40s getting bought. How dare you take that away from us? We still enjoy that shit.”
He then showed a Miller High Life in view of the camera: “I had to buy this shit. That’s not a 40.”
He added, “I’m disappointed. Somebody call me—I need a meeting at Miller. Olde English 800 in a glass bottle. Please put it back on the shelf.”
Xzibit isn’t wrong; malt liquor was widely celebrated by hip-hop in the 80s and 90s, including 2Pac, Ice Cube, N.W.A, Cypress Hill, Eazy-E, Snoop, Wu-Tang Clan, Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Eminem.
Eazy-E even rapped about Olde English on N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton album cut, "8 Ball": "Olde English 800, because that's my brand / Take it in a bottle, forty, quart or can / Drink it like a madman, yes I do."
It’s unclear if the glass bottle version of Olde English 800 is actually discontinued, though. According to Wikipedia, in 2021, Miller discontinued Olde English HG 800, but as of 2024, the brewing company brought back the Olde English 800 in 40 ounce glass bottles to the east coast after only selling plastic versions of it for almost a decade.
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
