DJ Drama and Don Cannon Say Lil Uzi Vert Is Only Signed to Generation Now Label
Despite news of Lil Uzi Vert signing to Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang, DJ Drama and Don Cannon say he’s only signed to Generation Now.
Lil Uzi Vert has come along way from being one of our artists to pay attention to in 2016. In the past 12 months, Lil Uzi has proven his rockstar status through two potent mixtapes—Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World, The Perfect Luv Tape—and collaborated with Gucci Mane on a joint project. His fans are literally chasing after him at his shows, which makes sense that he’s become the most-sought after commodity in the music industry.
Last week, Wiz Khalifa shared the news that Lil Uzi has signed with Taylor Gang, a move that would put him alongside Juicy J, Ty Dolla Sign, Chevy Woods, and more. But on Dec. 30, DJ Drama clarified the rumors that the Philadelphia rapper is only signed to Generation Now, a label co-founded by Don Cannon and Leighton Morrison, and in conjunction with Atlantic Records.

So what does this mean? Is Wiz bending the truth? Are Dram and Wiz not on the same page with Atlantic? Was Uzi a free agent the whole time?
DJ Drama’s team did not immediately respond to Complex’s request for comment. Until we get confirmation, we’ll just have to speculate what’s really going on with hip-hop’s hottest act.
