Pro Era's Kirk Knight started the year off by sharing the title of his next album, hoping to give his fans new music much quicker than before.

While IIWII (It Is What It Is) didn't come out until November, it was worth the wait. The 12-track album features his singles “Run It Back” (Freestyle) and “Downtime.” He calls it a very “personal album,” and would rather let the music speak for itself. For him, this means less explanation for each track’s significance and letting the listener take it all in.

IIWII highlights include “Different Day” and “Leverage,” the latter of which starts off with an old interview of Lil Wayne talking about remembering the greats when the rap game is so saturated. Kirk also pushes himself to sing more, which is found on songs like “TML” and “Not for Nothing.”

Kirk is building an impressive solo catalog as the secret weapon in Pro Era. In 2015, he dropped his debut, Late Knight Special, and followed that with his instrumental project Black Noise. He also teamed up with Nyck Caution for Nyck @ Knight, recently performing with him on Flatbush Zombies’ See You In Hell Tour in Europe.
