The First Week Numbers for Miguel’s ‘War & Leisure’ Are In

On Dec. 1, Miguel released his fourth studio album, War & Leisure, and now (just a few days later) the first week totals are in. Thus far the record has moved 40,000 units (16,000 of which have come from album sales) which is good for No. 9 on the Billboard 200chart.

That respectable debut position marks the third time that Miguel has cracked the Top 10, after previously doing so with both 2012's Kaleidoscope Dream (which reached the No. 3 spot) and 2015's Wildheart (which made it all the way to the No. 2 position).

In recent news, the singer-songwriter also announced a War & Leisure Tour which will take place on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13, and then pick up again around late February. In fact, the complete list of those dates looks a little something like this:

As for the rest of the top of this past week's Billboard chart, U2 came in first with their eighth ever album to hit No. 1, after moving 186,000 equivalent units (180,000 of which were traditional sales) of Songs of Experience. That accomplishment marks the first time in eight years that U2 has hit the top spot, and it should also be noted that moving that many units gave the album the prestigious honor of being the biggest single week for a rock album in all of 2017.

As for the 2-8 spots, they were (in order): Chris Stapleton's From a Room: Volume 2, Taylor Swift's Reputation, Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Divide), Pentatonix's A Pentatonix Christmas, Demi Lovato's Tell Me You Love Me, Sam Smith's The Thrill of It All, and Michael Buble's Christmas.

Something tells us those holiday albums won't be hard to jump for much longer.
