Kendrick Lamar in Consideration for Performance at 2028 Summer Olympics
Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are already confirmed for performances at the Los Angeles event.
Kendrick Lamar could be named as a performer for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
According to Sports Illustrated, the 22-time Grammy winner is being considered for a slot as a performer, with Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers already confirmed. With Kendrick, a Compton native, representing the West Coast entirely, it's expected that he could be tapped for the sporting event.
"The rebirth, the rebuild, maybe reimagining L.A. 2.0—and the Olympics as a catalyst for all those things—we think is really part of our ethos," Los Angeles Olympic organizing committee chairman Casey Wasserman told Sports Illustrated.
"Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar," added Wasserman, who's also founder and CEO of Wasserman, a global sports marketing and talent agency. "He is truly an L.A. icon, so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way."
In February, Kendrick played a crucial role in Super Bowl LIX, where he performed the Apple Music Halftime Show with special guests SZA, Mustard, Serena Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson. Drawing more than 133 million viewers, the pgLang-produced halftime show reportedly saw a higher viewership than the game itself.
Kendrick's sixth studio album, GNX, was largely dedicated to the West Coast rap, featuring California natives like AzChike and Dody6.
