"Ruined Me," a song on Muni's new album, 'Revenge,' was inspired by her split from Raysean Hairston, whom she shares a son with.

Muni Long kept her marriage to Raysean Hairston under wraps for nearly a decade. Now, the R&B singer-songwriter has gone public about their separation.

The Grammy Award winner, who released her fourth album, Revenge, on August 30, was a guest on Real 92.3 radio show The Cruz Show, where she was asked about the LP's final song, "Ruined Me."

Around the 3-minute mark of the video below, Long shared that Revenge served as her "diary," and that it was "the first time I'm telling my business in the music."

"I always pull from real experiences because I’m writing from my unique perspective," she said. "I can only talk about what I know. But this is the first time I’m putting my real life in it. It’s no secret…I’ve been married for nine years…It just didn’t work out, you know?"

With Hairston, Long shares a son, whom she brought onstage during the Los Angeles stop of Chris Brown's 11:11 Tour.

Muni added that she doesn't "have time for drama."

"I don’t have time for nonsense," she continued. "This is one of the most amazing times in my life, and if you can’t celebrate that with me, I’m so sorry, but I’m going to have to leave you behind. I cannot. You wake up every day mad, and there’s literally nothing to be upset about. We have a beautiful child, we’re good. We might owe some bills, but everybody has that."

Long also expressed that she doesn't have the willingness to wait for her husband to emotionally mature.

"I think it takes incredible strength to realize that this was the love of my life at one point—and he probably could be really good for me if he got it together–but I’m not willing to put my life, my passion, and my happiness on hold for you to catch up," she concluded. "Unfortunately, you might get it in a year…But I’m sorry, I’m probably already over it."

In a 2023 NPR interview, Long expressed that she'd "never had intimacy" quite like the kind she'd found with Hairston. "I think everybody deserves at least once in their life to know what that feels like," she told the outlet.

According to People, Muni Long met Hairston in Los Angeles, although the story behind their meeting is unclear. She remembered hating the dates she went on before she linked up with her husband.
