Olivia Rodrigo surprised Lollapalooza festival-goers this weekend with a surprise performance from legendary rock band Weezer.

On Friday (August 1), the three-time Grammy winner held her Lolla headlining set, where she joined Rivers Cuomo and co. for two of their classics, "Buddy Holly" and "Say It Ain't So." Both songs feature on Weezer's 1994 debut album Weezer (Blue Album), which has been RIAA-certified five times platinum.

"You always remember your first concert. It’s a very, very special moment," the Guts singer told the crowd. "I remember my first concert. It was a very memorable night. I watched this incredible band and I am so over the moon, because that incredible band is actually here tonight to play a few songs. Will you please say hello to Weezer?"

Rodrigo has frequently brought out music icons during shows in the past, performing alongside Lily Allen at Glastonbury Festival in 2022 and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne at Governors Ball in June.

In June, she surprised fans at her BST Hyde Park headline gig in London by bringing out Ed Sheeran to perform "The A Team."

She welcomed Sheeran onto the stage, telling fans: "I want to introduce one of my favourite Brits and one of the best songwriters of all time," before they launched into the 2011 hit.

The pop vocalist also treated the Lolla crowd to her solo hits "Driver’s License," "Traitor," "Love Is Embarrassing" and more. The festival continues into Sunday (August 3) with more headlining sets from Rüfüs Du Sol, TWICE, Sabrina Carpenter and A$AP Rocky.
