Dave Blunts Confirms Hospitalization After Leaked Video Surfaces
The rapper vowed last week to work on improving his health in 2025.
Dave Blunts took to Instagram on Thursday to confirm his hospitalization after a video of him asleep in his hospital bed surfaced.
"Yesterday instead of taking care of his kids or checking to see if he got any jobs that responded to his indeed applications a 40 year old man decided to come into my room while I was asleep and record me in my hospital bed I then wake up to several blogs and pages posting that I’m in the hospital," he wrote in a caption of the post.
Blunts explained that he needed to go to the hospital when his symptoms from the flu continued to worsen. The 23-year-old rapper believed he caught it during his show at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles last week.
Blunts also said he withheld the news of his hospitalization out of concern that people would think he was not taking his health journey seriously.
"I promise I am 100% focused on bettering my health in 2025 and this setback is making me feel like I can't do it because every time I try something like this happens I had been doing so good by walking and standing up at my shows instead of sitting down and showing people that I’m actually making progress but I guess it was all for nothing," his message continued.
Blunts maintained he is not giving up on improving his health "as long as you guys don’t give up on me." He added that "this shit is hard."
"This was an isolated incident not involving his weight and he is actively working on bettering his health," reps for Dave said in a statement to Complex.
The day after performing at The Roxy, Blunts posted a photo of himself holding a purple tracksuit that he threw into the crowd, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new journey towards getting healthier.
In December, Dave Blunts shared he'd sold out his first headlining show. He also shared a video of himself rapping along to his music, which he said was taken right after coming out of the hospital. "First Day Out of the Hospital," he wrote alongside the post."
Complex spoke to the rising rapper last July in a conversation about his come-up, why he hates clubs, and what’s next, which can be found here.
