Tay-K Identified as Shooter by Ex-Girlfriend During Testimony in Second Murder Trial
The rapper is currently serving a 55-year sentence following his conviction for the fatal shooting of Ethan Walker.
Tay-K's ex-girlfriend took the stand on Monday in the capital murder trial for the 2017 killing of San Antonio photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar.
Joanna Reyes, who said she was dating the rapper at the time, claimed she picked up Saldivar in an SUV with the intention of having a photoshoot. That’s when Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, and three others allegedly attempted to steal Saldivar's camera equipment before he was fatally shot, according to KSAT.
Reyes claimed Tay-K and Jaylen Bell, one of the three men inside the vehicle, were going back and forth when the latter seemingly confirmed that the rapper killed Saldivar. "Jaylen applauded [Tay-K] and gave him a high-five. They high-fived each other," she said, adding that Bell allegedly said, "You caught your first body.'"
Reyes also alleged that she witnessed Tay-K holding a gun while they were inside the car. She claimed that she didn't report the incident initially when Tay-K alleged threatened her and her family's lives.
In exchange for her testimony, Reyes accepted a guilty plea for witness tampering. She is facing 10 years of probation and has not yet been sentenced.
In 2019, Tay-K was sentenced to 55 years for the fatal shooting of Ethan Walker. If convicted in this latest trial, the rapper could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
