It looks like Busta Rhymes has a court case on his hands.

According to the New York Post, the multi-hyphenate turned himself in to police on Tuesday, just several days after he allegedly assaulted his 50-year-old assistant. Law enforcement sources told the outlet the alleged attack took place on Jan. 10 at the J Condominium in Brooklyn, where Busta — legal name Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. — purportedly confronted his employee for being on the phone during work hours.

Police said the argument quickly escalated with Busta allegedly punching his assistant several times on the left side of his face.

Insiders told TMZ that Busta left the scene after the purported attack, which allowed the victim, identified as Dashiel Gables, to call 911. Police and emergency personnel arrived at the condo shortly after and transported Gables to a hospital.

Busta was subsequently hit with three criminal charges: misdemeanor assault in the 3rd degree, attempted assault, and harassment. He is reportedly issued a desk appearance ticket, meaning he’ll have to address the charges in court.

The Post managed to contact Gables by phone on Thursday; however, he said his attorneys advised him not to publicly comment on the matter.

“Maybe later. Maybe in the future,” he told the outlet. “I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry.”
