DeJ Loaf Says She Won't Attend Jacquees and Deiondra Sanders' Wedding: 'I Respect Relationships'
Dej Loaf made the comments after Jacquees' fiancée suggested the duo was faking a relationship to sell albums.
DeJ Loaf insists she has no “issue” with Jacquees’ fiancée, Deiondra Sanders.
The Detroit-born artist explained her position during her and Jacquees’ sit-down with Hot 97’s Nessa. The pair were on a promotional run for F*ck a Friend Zone 2, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2017 joint mixtape. In the weeks leading up to the project, Deiondra — daughter of NFL legend Deion Sanders — publicly accused Dej of icing her out and suggested the duo had to “fake a relationship to [sell] albums.”
When asked about the comments, Dej made it clear she had no intentions of coming between the couple.
“I respect people’s relationships,” she told Nessa. “But it’s also like, do y’all respect the friendship? I’ve been out of the picture and I stay out of the picture unless it’s business. [Jacquees and I] don’t even hang out as much and do the cool shit that we used to do… It’s respect.”
Dej went on to say that Jacquees’ past girlfriends never really liked her because they seemed to have an issue with their “bond” and “chemistry.” She also confirmed she wouldn’t attend the couple’s wedding, as she’s yet to meet Deiondra.
“That ain’t on me,” Jacquees added. “How do I force you to meet somebody?”
“If any of his women feel like they don’t have to respect me, then I don’t have to be his friend,” Dej said. “We can end the friendship if my respect is on the line. I won’t be disrespected.”
Jacquees also addressed Deiondra’s online claims about his relationship with Dej, saying his fiancée simply didn’t “understand the entertainment industry.”
“That’s why you see outlashes on the internet… I think she does that probably to be heard or something,” he explained. “Of course, I don’t like it, but I try not to indulge in the internet and stuff… I’m passionate about my work and my dream. I want this [project] to be something great because this is an opportunity that we have always wanted. Our first project was a mixtape. We gave it away for free.
Nessa then asked why Deiondra was prohibited from attending his and Dej’s video shoot for “Favorite One.” The Georgia singer said Deiondra would’ve been able to attend if he was the lead artist on the song, but since it’s a 50/50 collaboration, he felt it was appropriate to meet Dej’s requests to ensure she was comfortable.
“Whatever [Dej] wants to happen on these sets gotta be done,” he explained. “It’s nothing to disrespect nobody.”
F*ck a Friend Zone 2 will hit streaming services on Friday, Feburary 14.
Jacquees and Deiondra welcomed a baby boy together back in 2024.
