FKA twigs Says She Once Lived With ASAP Rocky and ASAP Yams: 'We Had an Apartment Together'
The singer-songwriter recalled always making sure the duo was fed after their studio sessions: "They would never be able to cook for themselves."

In the early days of her music career, the English-born singer-songwriter became roommates with the group’s co-founder ASAP Yams and its de facto leader, ASAP Rocky. Twigs addressed that life chapter in a recent i-D interview with Playboi Carti, whom she met when he was a teen.
“When I was coming up with Rocky, he always used to tell me, ‘Yo, Twigs is the one. I got to introduce you to Twigs,’” Carti recalled. “And when I met you, everything he said about you was true. Shorty from the other side of the world. She got me off the bat.”
“You’re so sweet. You always had it,” Twigs said before touching on her living situation with the ASAP Mob members. “You know Rocky and I used to live together? I think it was 2012 or 2013. I used to live with ASAP Yams and Rocky in LA, and we had an apartment together.”
Twigs shared more details about her dynamic with Rocky and Yams, suggesting they all looked out for each other in different ways. She told Carti she would always cook for the duo after noticing they rarely spent time in the kitchen.
“They would never eat,” she said. “They were boys—they would never be able to cook for themselves. So they’d come back from the studio.“
“Coming in, got the munchies. Twigs over there going crazy,” Carti interjected. “I’ve never met Yams a day in my life. I always just hear so many cool stories. You and Rocky and Yams in the crib? That’s fire.”
Twigs described the late Yams as “such a gentleman” and shed more light on his considerate nature.
“He’d always let me sleep in his room,” she revealed. “He’d sleep on the sofa, and I would take his bed.”
“We got to treat you like an angel,” Carti replied.
