That Mexican OT isn’t afraid of getting “canceled.”

The Texas-born rapper explained his position during a recent appearance on the Lip Service podcast with hosts Angela Yee, Gigi Miguire, Jordan Emanuel, and Cleotrapa.

Around the 26-minute mark of the video above, Yee pointed out that many artists and high-profile figures are much more cautious with their language to avoid career-damaging repercussions. However, That Mexican OT insisted he wasn’t one of those artists.

“I don’t think I can get canceled. I can’t get canceled because I didn’t sell my music; I sold me,” he explained. “These people know who the fuck I am, and they love me, and they appreciate me. That’s why I can go fuckin’ jump off a bridge and eat a bowl of shit, and they’re gonna fuckin’ love it.”

He continued: “Even if you don’t agree with what the fuck I’m saying, there’s a whole world that is behind me. And not only is there a whole behind me, it’s so fearlessly me that you have no choice but to respect it.”

Cleotrapa then questioned That Mexican OT about his previous use of the N-word.

“You’re from the South, obviously you grew up a different kind of way, and you’re a rapper, too,” she began. “Do you feel like you can say the N-word?”

That Mexican OT said he felt like he could use the word, but not because he's a rapper.

“I’m gonna tell you why … I wish there was some Black dudes in here,” he said before scanning the room and finding one. “OK, we’re gonna use him. What the fuck are you gonna do about it? And then second of all, I grew up loving these motherfuckers. I grew up fighting with them. I grew up eating with them. I grew up fuckin’ doing bad shit with them.”

That Mexican OT also claimed to have Black relatives, suggesting he meant no malice when using the word.

“Even if I wasn’t related to nobody that was Black, I mean, shit, it’s what the fuck I was surrounded by,” he said.

The rapper told the hosts he understands why many object to non-Black people using the N-word and consider it offensive in any context.

“But if you’re from where I’m from, or anywhere, what the fuck are you gonna do about it?” he said. “I went to the jungle and earned the lion’s head. And now I’ll dominate anywhere … You will respect me the same way I respect you.”

That Mexican OT made similar comments during a 2023 appearance on The Smoothvega Podcast when he was pressed about his use of the N-word and accusations of cultural appropriation. He told the titular host that the former was nothing more than “a culture thing.”

“We’re all brown, you know?” he began. “What the fuck does Black act like? You tell me what a color acts like, stupid fuck … It’s a culture thing. I feel that’s the best way I can put it.”
