The Weeknd fans flocked to Ticketmaster Brazil and Live Nation hoping to see the singer's upcoming one-off stadium show in São Paulo.

“It’s that time,” The Weeknd wrote while quoting a tweet that claimed "Ticketmaster Brazil had to shut down access due to overwhelming demand."

The companies told Complex that more than 420,000 people tried securing seats for the instant-sell-out, one-night performance, which will go down on Sept. 7 at Estádio MorumBIS.

"The onsale for The Weekend in Sao Paulo ran smoothly. Tickets sold out and the website didn’t crash," a Ticketmaster spokesperson shared.

According to a press release, the singer’s São Paulo show will be produced by Live Nation and include never-before-seen production. Presale tickets went on sale Monday, July 22, while general sale began today.

Statidum Guide lists Estádio MorumBIS’s maximum capacity as nearly 73,000 seats. One dollar from each ticket sale will go toward the XO Humanitarian Fund, The Weeknd’s nonprofit organization that aims to combat the global hunger crisis. The donation is a collaborative effort with the United Nations World Food Programme, which named The Weeknd its Goodwill Ambassador in 2021.

“The U.N. World Food Programme is doing urgent and important work to change and save lives on a daily basis and I feel passionately about addressing world hunger and helping people in need,” The Weeknd said about his ambassador appointment. “Our partnership is an authentic extension of all our efforts and intentions to help those in need and bring an end to so much suffering.”

Earlier this week, the Grammy-winning artist took to Instagram to tease the final installment of his After Hours/Dawn FM trilogy. He previewed new music in a two-minute animated video that went heavy on the ominous sci-fi vibes.

“When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you…” he wrote in the caption, quoting German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.

The preview arrived more than two years after The Weeknd released DAWN FM, a chart-topping album that included appearances by Lil Wayne and Tyler, the Creator.
