Baka Not Nice Says Drake Stopped Him From Dissing Kendrick Lamar: ‘Don’t Listen to the Noise’
Baka said Kendrick and his team needed paperwork to back up the pedophile claims made on "Not Like Us."
OVO's Baka Not Nice has revealed he was planning on responding to Kendrick Lamar during the vicious feud with Drake, but his Toronto brethren talked him out of it.
During a visit to the Hot Freestyle show, Baka took time out to reflect on the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar that took over the music and pop industries last year. According to Baka, he wanted to respond quickly to K Dot by being extremely direct and to the point, all because of the pedophile allegations that were made on the scathing diss track "Not Like Us."
"Where I come from, that shit doesn't happen. You can't just call out a man and not have paperwork to back up your talks," Baka says at around the 10:40 mark. "That's just ludicrous, and then to see a whole nation behind it and celebrating it like it's a true story is unbelievable cause everybody has to understand: I have a kid, Drake has a kid, you know what I mean? Making accusations like that are ridiculous and out of this world."
Baka continued, "I was building up a lot of anger and stuff like that, but then I got a call, but I don't know why I got this call. It's like God said something to him [...] he messaged me, and he's like, 'Yo, I know what you're feeling, I know you as an individual. I know how you get down, but I'm just letting you know, don't listen to the noise cause it's noise.'"
Drake also told Baka that most of the negative comments came from social media bots, and it's a good thing that people were bringing up Baka's name. Baka added that Drake helped him realize that the dust would eventually settle and that people would do their own research to see how outlandish the accusations were.
On "Not Like Us," Lamar made several allegations that Drake and members of his OVO camp were pedophiles and sex traffickers. Lamar even saved a bar for Baka when he mentioned one of his old legal issues rapping, "And Baka got a weird case, why is he around? / Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles."
Baka was arrested in 2014 and charged with forcing a 22-year-old woman into prostitution and taking her money. The case was eventually dismissed after the woman refused to testify against Baka.
