Ye Says He ‘Obviously’ Hates Jay-Z and Doesn’t Like ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ Album
The artist formerly known as Kanye West went on another unhinged social media rant, making several controversial comments—ranging from bashing his own music to expressing how he feels about Jay-Z.
The artist formerly known as Kanye West listed off some things that he hates, including his former collaborator Jay-Z and his critically acclaimed album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
On Friday night, Ye hopped on X for yet another unhinged rant, touching on topics including the Jewish community (and making antisemitic comments), his wealth, his X account supposedly being temporarily shut down, and more. One of the more shocking things he said was aimed at his fifth studio album, which is beloved by many.
According to Ye, he can't stand the album, and he made it to prove something following the infamous moment with Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
"I hate My Dark Beautiful Fantasy Like haaaaaate that album," tweeted Ye. "I made Dark Fantasy out of fear and to prove something it was as like 'coming back from the Taylor Swift moment' I should have just leaned in more."
Ye also stated that his favorite songs from the album were "Devil in a New Dress" and "Blame Game." He then mentioned wishing he had more time with Beyoncé during a studio session and declaring his hatred for Jay-Z. "If I just had ten more minutes that one time in the studio with Beyoncé [...] I obviously hate Jay Z," said the Chicago rap legend.
In addition to those random revelations, Ye bizarrely claimed that Kris Jenner sent him, Kim Kardashian, and Ray J the contract to "shoot part 2 of the sex tape." Ye also spoke on no longer wanting to executive produce The Game's upcoming album because he showed love to Top 5, who the Bully rapper claimed threatened to kill him.
Ye continued in several more tweets, stating the Jewish community, Jay-Z, and Drake were the only people who could "afford" to have him killed. This isn't the first time Ye has spoken negatively of Hov or that specific album.
He's gone on several rants about Jay recently and in the past, in one he mentioned the Brooklyn rapper's children. Regarding his album, Ye first spoke about how much he disliked it during an interview in 2022 with SHOWStudio.
"You know, people extend their brand for a long time. There's true moments of genius, then there are moments of looking through the archives and putting shit together," he said. "So many people rate Dark Fantasy as my best album, but Yeezus and 808s are so much stronger. Dark Fantasy to me is... almost like, an apology record. 'Power' was the least progressive song that I've ever had as a first single.... least challenging."
