Quavo Hosts Second Annual Rocket Summit in Atlanta to Address Gun Violence
Quavo hosts the second Rocket Summit in Atlanta to honor Takeoff and address gun violence with community leaders.
Quavo returned to his hometown of Atlanta to host the second annual Rocket Summit, an event focused on addressing gun violence through community-driven solutions.
The summit, held at the College Football Hall of Fame, was organized by Quavo and The Rocket Foundation in honor of his late nephew and fellow Migos member, Takeoff. The event also coincided with Gun Violence Prevention Month.
This year’s summit brought together leaders in the field, survivors, youth, and local advocates. The day began with a VIP luncheon and was followed by panels and breakout sessions centered on reducing community violence and building safer neighborhoods.
The opening panel, titled The Urgency of Now, featured experts including Marcus Ellis of Cities United, Angela Ferrell-Zabala of Moms Demand Action, Amber Goodwin of Community Justice, and Dr. Chico Tillmon of the CVI Leadership Academy. Moderated by Greg Jackson, President of The Rocket Foundation, the discussion emphasized the need for long-term investment in community violence intervention.
A second panel, We Are the Change, highlighted the efforts of grassroots leaders like Leonard Dungee of H.O.P.E. Hustlers and Aaliyah Strong of Tyme to Thrive. They shared insights on how lived experience and community ties are essential to addressing the root causes of violence.
Breakout sessions allowed participants to discuss solutions in smaller groups, focusing on topics like youth engagement, legal support, and policy change. Mental health support was also available on-site.
The summit closed with a keynote conversation featuring Quavo and podcast hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Quavo stressed the importance of healing and compassion in the fight against gun violence, reinforcing his commitment to creating a safer future for Atlanta and beyond.
