Beyoncé Brought Out Jay Z, Destiny’s Child, and Solange for Her Coachella Set
Beyoncé became the first black woman to headline Coachella with an epic performance.
One year after skipping Coachella due to her pregnancy, Beyoncé returned to the popular music festival with a dominant performance. Before Saturday’s show, Bey addressed her fans via Facebook and let them know she had a “special show planned.” That might have been an understatement.
Beyoncé then hinted at why she might pull out all the stops for this particular performance.
“Coachella, thanks for allowing me to be the first black woman to headline,” she reportedly told the crowd.
Bey gave the crowd some HBCU flavor by incorporating “Lift Every Voice” into her set, and the rumored Destiny’s Child reunion also took place. Beyoncé, Michelle, and Kelly ran through "Say My Name," "Lose My Breath," and "Soldier."
Fans in attendance also got a taste of the On The Run II Tour, as Jay Z joined the festivities.
Beyoncé and Solange collaborated on a choreographed dance routine during “Get Me Bodied” adding yet another layer to a performance that is still trending hours later.
With additional nods to Pastor Troy and Crucial Conflict, even non-Beyhive members began posing the question of where Beyoncé’s show ranked within the pantheon of the greatest live shows ever.
