Akon returns with “Akon’s Beautiful Day,” a song the five-time Grammy nominee is hoping will serve as “the anthem the world needs right now.”

The new track boasts an interpolation of the “Beautiful Day” hook previously met with virality thanks to a 2017 video of a young student, then 10, singing the track. Akon collaborated with JKash, JR Rotem, and Phillip Phever to bring the song to life ahead of back-to-back shows at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles later this month.

"If I take the blame, put it all on me/I just pray that I won’t end up lonely," Akon sings in the first verse, perhaps marking a nod to his 2005 megahit "Lonely," off his debut studio album Trouble. This June, that album turned 20.

In a recent interview with Kyle Meredith, as seen below, Akon let fans know that he’s been in “full creative mode” in the run-up to the release of his new album, which he said at the time was due Oct. 24.
