Here we go again.

Friday, ASAP Rocky continued his Don’t Be Dumb mission with the rollout of "Ruby Rosary," expertly produced by the master of atmosphere himself, The Alchemist.

Lyrically, the song sees both Rocky and J. Cole ablaze with a slew of highly quotable lines, though it’s the AWGE founder who’s squarely back in Drake speculation territory. While the first verse includes several perceived Drake subs, including possible nods to Drake’s Kendrick Lamar diss "Push Ups" ("tell him, 'push up, Hercules'") and certain mid-beef plastic surgery claims (the word "obliques" jumps out), it’s the second verse that’s been placed at the center of the bulk of Friday’s commentary across social media and YouTube reaction videos, and beyond.

After a boast about suicide doors, Rocky continues by asking "Who dared me to die?" before ultimately answering his own question. "You a dead man walkin’ like you barely alive," he raps at one point. Many fans have linked this to Drake’s perceived Rocky disses on "Family Matters,' not to mention the widely held argument that Kendrick came out the victor in this year’s charts-dominating beef. Evidence for the possible "Family Matters" link doesn’t stop there, as Rocky then raps that this unnamed individual "cut everything but the family ties." Of course, "Family Ties" is also the name of a Kendrick and Baby Keem track released back in 2021.

Rocky later tucks in what could be interpreted as a nod to Drake’s "Buried Alive" interlude off his classic 2011 album Take Care before using the Family Guy character Brian, notably a canine, as a possible way of further hinting that he’s talking about the 6 God, whose most recent studio album remains For All the Dogs.

Like who dared me to die? You a dead man walkin' like you barely alive
Cut everything but the family ties
Cut the shit, cut the lies, word to the wise
Who in your top five? Haha (Fuck your top five)
I don't get fresh to death, bitch, I'm buried alive
I heard dawg talkin' funny like it's Family Guy

Worth noting is that Cole himself was also briefly in the middle of this year's historic back-and-forth between Kendrick and Drake, though he quickly bowed out. Cole and Drake are also former tour partners, having capitalized on their "First Person Shooter" success with a run of dates earlier this year.

Readers will note that this is far from the first time we’ve gone down this road. In August, fans were all over Rocky’s "Highjack," another song presumably set for his long-awaited (and Morrissey-featuring) Don’t Be Dumb album, with similarly Drake-focused takeaways. The same thing happened with Rocky’s verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s "Show of Hands," which rolled out back in April as part of We Still Don’t Trust You.

No release date has been publicly set for the album, Rocky’s first since 2018’s Testing. Last week, Rocky and company shared the Ukraine-shot video for another track off the album, the phonetically shrewd "Tailor Swif." See that below.

As for "Ruby Rosary" talk, Drake himself hasn’t responded to any of the speculation publicly. He is, however, soon expected to be rolling out a possible new album with PARTYNEXTDOOR.
