Drake Postpones Anita Max Win Tour Dates Over 'Scheduling Conflict'
The tour has made headlines due to fans' creative handmade signs.
Drake’s Anita Max Win Tour, an undeniable headlines staple as of late, will not proceed.
In a statement initially shared with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, a “scheduling conflict” was said to be the cause of the decision. The plan, however, is to announce rescheduled shows for those being pushed back, as well as additional dates. Tickets already purchased will be valid for the rescheduled shows, though getting a refund is also an option.
When reached for comment by Complex on Wednesday, a rep for Drake offered the following:
“Due to a scheduling conflict, four of Drake’s 16 sold-out shows in Australia and New Zealand will be postponed.
We are actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows. All tickets for the affected shows will remain valid for the new dates. Refunds will be available for those who prefer, but please note that as these shows are sold out, any refunded tickets will be released for sale.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Drake and the entire team have had an incredible time doing these shows and are excited to return soon. We look forward to sharing the rescheduled dates with you as soon as possible."
Drake himself has not publicly addressed the postponement as of this writing. The tour kicked off earlier this month with back-to-back shows at the RAC Arena in Perth before heading to Melbourne and Sydney. Drake did four shows each in those two cities before moving on to Brisbane. Affected dates include would-be shows in Brisbane (March 4), Sydney (March 7), and Auckland (March 15 and 16).
Fans’ handmade signs were a frequent source of attention during the Anita Max Win run, as were Drake’s offers to help alleviate select fans’ financial concerns. During a recent show, one fan’s sign led to Drake offering to pay for their mother’s cancer treatment.
PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U album, their first full-length project together, arrived in the middle of Drake’s Australia and New Zealand tour. It’s currently the No. 1 album in the U.S.
