Kacey Musgraves Returns With New 'Star-Crossed' Album and Film
Kacey's first album in three years follows her Album of the Year winner 'Golden Hour' and sees the acclaimed songwriter reflecting on energies old and new.
Three excruciatingly long years after the release of her Album of the Year winner Golden Hour, Kacey Musgraves has returned with a vulnerability-centered new era, complete with an accompanying film from director Bardia Zeinali.
Described as a “a modern tragedy told in three acts,” Star-Crossed—the singer’s fifth studio album—sees Musgraves embracing an approach of “rebirth” in her work, even down to the details of how she will be presenting this new chapter in a live setting.
“It’s a clean slate,” she told Zane Lowe in a recently released, hour-long interview for Apple Music. “It’s the opportunity to thank the old energy and to appreciate it and know that you would not be where you are without all of the old that was there for you. But it’s also allowing for new energy to come in and new ideas and new personalities and just new possibilities.”
The 15-track new album, featuring the previously released “Justified” and the title track, is out now via Spotify and all major streamers. Star-Crossed: The Film—an Anonymous Content production in association with UMG Nashville, Sandbox Entertainment, and Golden Girl Productions—is now available exclusively on Paramount+.
And below, catch the newly released clip for “Simple Times.” Featured in the video are Victoria Pedretti of You and The Haunting, “I Like Him” artist Princess Nokia, and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Symone.
In January, Musgraves will embark on the Star-Crossed: Unveiled tour with special guests King Princess and Muna. Peep a list of dates below.
