Ye Responds to Being Called a '14-Year-Old White Edgelord' After Suggesting 'White Rape' Album Title
'White Rape' was one of two options floated by Ye.
The artist formerly known as Kanye West was quick to reply to being likened to a teen “white edgelord,” notably doing so after wearing a swastika chain in a recent interview with Akademiks. The criticism, of course, has been a common one in connection with Ye’s more recent work, particularly post-Donda.
First, Ye, whose recently shared-to-X “WW3” video blends repurposed Roots footage with a depiction of a nude woman being whipped, asked fans to pick between a pair of purported album title choices.
“What’s a better album title?” Ye said on X before revealing “N***** Cock or White Rape” as the two in contention.
In response, an X user, as seen below, compared Ye’s recent public persona to that of “a 14-year-old white edgelord kid” despite the 24-time Grammy winner being “a 50-year-old man with multiple children.” In the same reply, the user also urged Ye, who actually turns 48 in June, to “stop being edgy” for the sheer sake of it.
Ye was quick to reply, telling this individual they “have absolutely no say-so over anything I do or say.”
For what it’s worth, it’s unclear if either purported album title option is seriously being considered for use by Ye, who in March shared an unfinished version of his new album, titled Bully. Unlike last year’s Vultures 1 and Vultures 2, which were both jointly credited to Ye and Ty Dolla Sign, Bully is a full-fledged solo effort, Ye’s first since 2021’s Donda and its never-fully-actualized sequel.
The brief “WW3” is not included on the album in its current form, nor is the album available on streaming services. A previously announced third Vultures album, meanwhile, seems unlikely to materialize in any official capacity.
