Latto on Possibility of Battling With Ice Spice in Vein of Kendrick and Drake: 'Would It Even Make Sense?'

Don't expect to see Latto and Ice Spice in a full-fledged rap war a la Kendrick and the 6 God.

Latto doesn’t think a Kendrick Lamar and Drake-style rap battle with Ice Spice would make sense.

The topic, naturally, was broached during the two-time Grammy nominee’s newly published interview with Kyle Denis for Billboard. At one point in the cover story conversation, Kendrick and Drake’s historic back-and-forth got a specific mention, with Latto expressing that she felt the feud was "healthy for the culture" while also feeling "nostalgic." Still, don’t expect the same from her and Spice.

"If I was to do [a battle], it would have to be with somebody I feel like I’mma go tit for tat with," Latto, who pointed out that she’s not a "lyrical only" type of music fan, explained when asked about a hypothetical battle. "I really don’t mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that? I feel like she’s doing her in her lane."

Adding that she and Spice both bring "two different types of vibes," Latto continued, arguing that "an actual rap beef" is, at least in her opinion, unlikely.

"Everybody gon' take their lil jabs in the music, and it’s not even that serious to me; I feel like you should do that. Continue to!" Latto said. "But as far as actual whole diss records to each other, I don’t think she would even want to do that. I feel like… would it even make sense? It wouldn’t."

On the topic of jabs, there have been several when it comes to Latto and Spice. Back in February, for example, Latto included an image of the "Gimmie a Light" artist on the cover art for her "Sunday Service" track. As recently as June, there appeared to still be some gas left in the shade tank.

Interestingly, both have hotly anticipated new albums on the horizon. First up, Spice will roll out her "Think U the Shit (Fart)"-featuring Y2K! project on July 26 via Capitol and 10K Projects. In August, Latto will give fans her Sugar Honey Iced Tea through RCA.
