Lil Wayne Jokingly Tells Fans He’s Working on 26th Entry in 'Tha Carter' Series: 'I Was Lying'
Meanwhile, fans are holding out hope for an official 'Tha Carter VI' release date announcement soon.
Lil Wayne remains hard at work on the next entry in his Tha Carter series, recently joking to fans that he was actually in sessions for the twenty-sixth volume, not the long-teased Tha Carter VI.
Indeed, as seen in a contagiously jovial video shared to Instagram by the Lil’ WeezyAna Fest founder, the undeniably consistent nature of Wayne’s artistic work ethic remains as strong today as it’s ever been. Coffee in hand, Weezy began the video with a shoutout to Craig Carton before offering some sunny words of morning-timed encouragement.
"I’m in the studio, as usual," Wayne said, as seen below. "Just finished working on a couple features. I would tell y’all who it is but you know I wouldn’t do that and fuck it up. … Just wanted to say good morning and how the fuck are you doing, man? If you’re not up, you’re fucking down. And if you’re down, I’m here to pick you up. What do you say? There’s nothing like a fucking Weezy, and I’m working on Carter Vi. I just want you to know that."
The five-time Grammy winner, however, was quick to amend his remarks.
"I was lying," he joked in the IG clip. "I’m working on Carter XXVI. I think you already know that."
Sadly, Weezy didn't tuck a release date announcement into his coffee-assisted update on Wednesday. The project, which follows 2018's Tha Carter V, is expected soon and has received multiple teases straight from Wayne himself over the past few years. In June, for example, the 41-year-old confirmed that Tha Carter VI would be his "next project" in an interview with Cam Heyward.
The next several months will see Weezy hitting several cities across North America, including his hometown of New Orleans for the aforementioned 2024 edition of WeezyAna. This year’s lineup boasts a Hot Boys reunion.
